Implications:
Based on the research, I think that living with lactose intolerance have neggative effects in life. Once if you don't know how to manage this disease it is very frustrating because theres a very painful digestive discomfort and all that treatments ussually for kids are very disconfortin. But when once an individual knows the facts about this intolerance and knows how to manage their diet that it will succesfully eliminate the digestive discomfort. For some parents it is very difficult looking at their child and noticing that becuase of their genetic coding their children have a disease and having to see how they sufer of bloaing and vomiting and having lots of diagnosis the blame themselves or even one of them of passing the disease to their infant.
Social Implication:
Heres a testimony of a teenager talking about her illness:
Illness left me Lactose Intolerant by Abigail Andrews
About four years ago, I went through a stage when I was constantly sick and having stomach aches whenever I ate and eventually it still happened even when I didn’t eat – I just had to smell food!
I was already under care at Sheffield Children’s Hospital for an underlying condition which I have suffered with since the age of three. They were investigating this for quite some time when my mum noticed something. I had been put on a probiotic yogurt diet, but the vomiting didn’t to seem to stop, in fact it got worse. The doctors said I was simply not having enough and increased the amount I needed to eat, but this made me feel even worse.
In the end my Mum suggested that I cut out all dairy. A week later the vomiting had stopped, I wasn’t bloated any more and I began losing weight.
And the cause? It turned out that as a result of the four lots of chemotherapy and six lots of radiotherapy I had had to have left me with an intolerance to lactose.
I am now a student at Hallam University in Sheffield doing Hospitality Business Management with Culinary Arts and I am always creating new dishes suitable for my diet. I also tie it into my coursework as often as I can to raise more awareness of lactose intolerance, especially for the hotel and restaurant industry.
I hope my story offers some advice to people who may be going through or have been through a similar problem to mine.(Lactose Intolerant,2016)
Psycological Implications:
Economical implication:
On the other hand, looking on what I searched, I think it is going to be a neggative psycological effect mainly in children, since they need to have a diet for them to stop the digestive discomfort. Children would be getting bored of the same food and as they see how the other kids are able to eat other kind of food which are based on lactose they start be jelouse of the other kids cause they can eat lactose and never have digestive discomfort. Meanwhile, this dosen't means that parents and adults dosen't have psycological implications according to this disease. Some parents start to blame themselves or each for passing the genetic code of this disease to their child. But when they start to making the treatments they can see that there is a behavioral change in their child beacues they start become more active and alot happier. And you can substituite ypur favorite meals that contain lactose in lactose free and it dosen't means you have to stop eating yor favorite meals.
Lactose intolerance can be at the begging very expenssive because treatments and consoltion with the doctor is very expensive; but once you know how to manage your diet and disease your economical stability is going to be normal. But you have to make some changes in your products when you buy lactose free products and sometimes they are more expensive. Taking into account the school lunchs you don't have to pay for food you just put in your sons backpack their diet food.
